Its been a couple years since I've updated this blog. My third website project Learning To Walk Again took up most of 2024. I'm grateful for being able to spend the year on that, I wouldn't have wanted to spend the year any other way as far as work is concerned. I had been studying poets for Learning to Walk like Jack Kerouac and came across his work Alone on a Mountaintop. While aware that he isolated himself for a long out somwhere I had forgotten that it was in the state of Washington where I live.
I became curious about desolation peak and did a search for it right after listening to his write up. One of the first pictures that came up was for this troop of scouts that hiked there around the 80s and 90s. I thought the pictures were a fun look back so I made a blog post for them.
Here is Jack's poem about Desolation Peak and Mount Baker where he worked as a fire lookout in solitude for three months.
